A Historic Property, A Challenging Inventory & A Fascinating Story 🏛️

After a busy summer carrying out student inventories, it was great for the Ivy team to get back to some more unusual projects.

This week, we completed a full Inventory of The Scalford Country Hotel in Leicestershire, which had been acquired by the Home Office to provide accommodation for asylum seekers and refugees under a 12-month contract.

With a property of this size and history, the client wanted a comprehensive photographic and written record of the entire estate. The aim was to clearly document the condition of the property from the outset and provide a detailed record should any damage or maintenance issues arise during the tenancy.

This was certainly one of the more challenging Inventories we have completed. The sheer size of the property, the number of fixtures and fittings to document and the generally tired condition of many areas meant there was a huge amount of detail to capture.

Despite the challenges, the Ivy team worked through the property methodically and delivered the completed Inventory to the client’s satisfaction.

Projects like this are a great reminder that no two Inventories are ever the same. Every property presents its own challenges — and often, a fascinating piece of history too.

Originally built as a hunting lodge, the estate was once owned by Colonel Colman, founder of Colman’s Mustard. 🌭

Another unique property documented by Ivy Inventory Services.
