The name gives away part of its history. Governors House was once the home of theĀ Governor of the local prison, who lived there fromĀ 1751 to 1934.

The building also had a short spell as a pub before its current owner took over and carried out a significant renovation, restoring it to a high standard while retaining some of its distinctive original character — including theĀ blue engineering brickwork and decorative stone window surrounds.

For the past four years,Ā Ivy Inventory Services has been fortunate to look after the Check-In and Check-Out of all 12 luxury apartments, as well as theĀ bi-weekly cleaning of the communal areas.

It’s a great example of how historic buildings can be given a new purpose while retaining the character and features that make them unique.

From former prison governor’s residence to luxury apartments — quite a transformation!
